CEMP (Construction Environmental Management Plan)
A CEMP is often required as a condition of planning permission. It sets out how environmental impacts during construction—such as noise, dust, pollution, and waste—will be managed to protect habitats and wildlife.
LEMP (Landscape and Ecological Management Plan)
A LEMP focuses on biodiversity and ecology. It explains how landscapes and habitats will be created, managed, and maintained during and after development, ensuring long-term environmental benefits.
These reports are typically required for larger developments or Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, and must be robust, detailed, and appropriate to the scale of the project.
Key Components of LEMP and CEMP:
Construction Environmental Management Plan
- Pollution prevention and watercourse protection
- Species and habitat protection during construction
- Defined access routes, buffer zones, and exclusion fencing
- Ecological risk management and control measures
Landscape and Ecological Management Plan
- Maintenance plans for habitats and landscape features
- Monitoring methods, success targets, and reporting schedules
- Long-term goals for biodiversity enhancements and creation
- Clear allocation of responsibilities (e.g. landowner, management body, or stewardship partner)
